The Associate degree is a new level of education in the Netherlands (EQF level 5) and approximately a year after its formal incorporation in the Dutch educational system, the Associate degree was celebrated with the 1st National Associate degree conference. The conference was initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, The Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and the Dutch VET sector so we had to consider all the diferent wishes and expectations.
CAOS advised the organizing committee on the target groups and the setup and content of the programme. As the venue had limited meeting rooms but our programme had 14 parallel workshops, we had to be creative with the space. We thought of news ways to set up the workshops and to make them as interactive and surprising as possible.
For the opening of the conference and the award ceremony, we thought of special acts together with our creative partners.
We managed all contact with the delegates, speakers and third parties. Special guests were the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, and the alderman of Almere, so we had to keep all the protocols in mind.
Furthermore, we organized the 1st Associate degree talent award and coordinated the applications, the meetings with the jury members and the selection of the winners. Ten students of the participating Universities of Applied Sciences were present at the conference as host/hostess. We made a detailed time schedule for them, did a briefing and coordinated them during the day.
