A Week of Science and Connection - across boundaries

For six days, the focus was entirely on Caribbean research, exchange, and collaboration. On behalf of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), we organised the Dutch Caribbean Research Week 2024: a hybrid conference that brought together scientists, students, and stakeholders from across the region and beyond — both live and online.

At venues across the SSS and ABC islands, participants experienced meetings that combined content and inspiration: from lectures and panel discussions to cultural performances and networking activities. Thanks to an extensive livestream production, the online audience could also participate from anywhere in the world.

The Dutch Caribbean Research Week is more than just a conference. It is a growing community built on knowledge, culture, and collaboration. In just one week, the LinkedIn group grew from 0 to 225 active members — a network that continues to thrive and expand.

CAOS was responsible, on behalf of NWO, for the complete organisation and production of the event: from technical and logistical coordination across six islands to communications and visual content. The result? Hundreds of participants, countless connections, and an event that firmly placed Caribbean research on the international map.

Science, connection, and culture — DCRW 2024 demonstrated the power of this combination.
